What is a SSSTS Training Course?

The 2 day CITB SSSTS Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme course is delivered by Project Skills Solutions as we are a CITB approved training centre. The course is governed by the CITB, the content and course material is set by the CITB.

CITB Courses

The CITB SSSTS training course is delivered over 2 days, the course delivery time is 15 hours. In order for the delegate to complete the CITB SSSTS training course and receive the certificate the delegate must complete all of the training course. Project Skills Solutions deliver the CITB SSSTS training courses as either a 2 day block or as 1 day a week over 2 weeks. We have locations across the UK where we deliver the CITB SSSTS training course from, locations include;

Although there are no formal entry requirements for you to complete the CITB SSSTS training course it is aim at anyone who is or are about to have a supervisory role/ responsibilites. This CITB course provides supervisors with an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues as well as their legal responsibilites relevant to their work activities. As well as the above it will help to promote health and safety to supervise effectively.

The aims of the CITB SSSTS Training Course are as follows, to ensure that all those given supervisory responsibilites whether onsite or in the office understand;

  • Why they are carrying out their identified duties
  • What is expected of them
  • How they contribute to the safety of the workplace

At the end of the course delegates will be able to; 

  • Understand problems of the industry
  • Explain how health and safety law is structured, and how it applies to supervisors
  • Identify how their supervisory role fits in with the management structure in controlling the site safety
  • Carry out risk assessments and understand the need for method statements
  • Carry out effective site inductions, toolbox talks and method statement briefings
  • Monitor site activities effectively
  • Understand the importance of timely intervention when bad practice is identified

At the end of the course the delegates are assessed via an exam, the exam paper consists of 25 questions, 22 multiple choice and 3 short written questions and answers. There are 4 safety critical questions on each paper which must be answered correctly. The exam paper is taken at the end of the second day. There is also a case study exercise and trainer review which are completed.

On successful completion of the CITB SSSTS training course delegates are awarded with a CITB SSSTS Training Certificate.

Once delegates have completed the CITB SSSTS the natural progression is the CITB SMSTS Training course.
